On Tuesday night we went on a “Jack the Ripper” tour, which was awesome. We went to all the spots where he murdered 5 girls in gruesome ways. I did not know that he was never caught. Wednesday we went on our day trip to the Tower of London and Greenwich. The Tower was amazing! It was all that I thought it was going to be. So the fortress is really old. The oldest part of the structure is the White Tower, built by William the Conqueror. After that pieces just kept adding on and adding on. We had a fabulous Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) who gave us a tour. We saw Traitor’s Gate, which was down by the river and a gate where people such as Anne Boleyn, the Katherine’s and Sir Walter Raleigh entered. We then went to the courtyard, where Lady Jane Grey (the Queen of 9 days), Anne Boleyn and others were beheaded. One man, I cant remember who, had the axe chomp on his neck 5 times and it still wouldn’t severe so they had to cut it off. Gross. We ended up in the chapel within the walls of the tower, where they buried everyone who had ever been killed either in the tower or on tower hill. I think our guide said that some 1000 bodies were beneath the church’s floor. Anne Boleyn, Katherine Howard and Lady Jane Grey’s bodies were buried up toward the front of the chapel. We then went to the Bloody Tower where the 2 young princes, Richard II, I believe, and his yo
unger brother were murdered by Richard of Gloucester. We also saw Sir Walter Raleigh’s room of imprisonment. After the tower we went on the DLR to Greenwich. Greenwich holds the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian. So I stood in 2 hemispheres at once yesterday! I got a great chocolate hob nob milkshake at Shake it – amazing! Last night we just decided to go for a bus ride. So we just hopped on the 148 bus and it took us down to Westminster. So we got out and walked around the Abbey and Parliament and just had fun as girls. I love my roommates so much!
Today was a good day. I’m trying to watch what I eat so the past 2 days and I feel a lot better. I don’t want to gain weight AT ALL! I got up and wrote my movie review from 8:30 -10 and then got ready for the day and went to the Natural History Museum. It was so cool! They had this earth exhibit that showed the evolution of the earth, rock formations, weather patterns, ecology, dinosaurs – I mean, it was really cool. Then I went to the V&A and walked around the fashion exhibit and into the Raphael room. I had never been to the V&A before. I thought it was really cool. I’m crossing things off my list to do here – crazy, time is coming to an end!

thats pretty crazy that he was never caught. it must have been an exciting experience to see a lively moment in history -- although it was not approved by most people. i guess thats what makes it interesting? people may look at it with disgust in those murders, but it did impact history.
